It's a quiet, snowy Monday morning and I'm relaxing for the first time in months because, well, because the enormous pre-baby to-do list is coming to a close. Thank God.
Thank God. (The second 'Thank God' is from Fabulous Husband, and is delivered with even more enthusiasim than mine).
Something about becoming pregnant inspired me to make a list of house-related projects that (I decided) absolutely had to be completed before our daughter's arrival. I've read about this behavior in pregnancy books, and it appears to be a classic case of what they call 'nesting'.
I don't know what made me think this was a good idea to make such a list. I'm the kind of person that has a difficult time living with any form of incomplete list. Just ask Fab Husband, who has to live with my laser-like focus on working at whatever task is at hand until either the task is completed
or he is picking me up from a big, pregnant, weepy puddle on the floor.
The list included:
1. Replace downstairs carpet with wood floor
2. Paint living room, hallway and upstairs hallway
3. Paint the baby's room
4. Remove all the stuff being stored in the baby's room
5. Select best photographs of all family & friends, print them, frame them, and hang them (almost done!)
6. Make The List Of Stuff we need for the baby; consult Sandie, edit The List Of Stuff
7. Acquire all fifty items on said list
8. Set up items purchased from said list (Fab husband has a lot of design suggestions for Graco)
9. Get a coffee table that does not need coasters; one that looks elegant but that a child could eat from, draw on, spill juice on etc. without mom & dad freaking out (ok, mostly mom).
10. Figure out all of the baby paperwork; make a budget for the time I won't be working. (This was Fab Husband's to-do).
11. Re-organize the upstairs bathroom cabinets.
12. Make a list of stuff we need to take to the hospital.
Posting this has been cathartic. Thanks for indulging me.
From here on in, I guess we wait. At least I can relax while we're waiting. :-)
